Colosseum is a game I am currently working on. It is of the card-based tactics genre and I do not know for sure when it will come out, as I am only working on it with a very few friends of mine.
The main theme of the game is an illegal gambling ring that is under a sprawling semi-dark fantasy-themed world.

The players will each use a deck of cards, consisting of as many as five squads. The squads can have any unit in them. Each card has a star ranking (based on its hit points, attack and abilities). The total maximum of stars that a squad can have is 5. So, a squad can consist of one very powerful 5 star unit, or lots of weak, half-star units. Each strategy, of course, has an advantage. While the single unit will be able to take on multiple fights on its own, the smaller units will receive attack bonuses for multiple hits.

On to gameplay:

When two players agree on a match (the rules will be heavily customizable), they are taken to a strategic view of the colosseum (the first version may be a 5x5 grid, but ultimately it will be a series of sliced concentric circles,kind of like a dartboard), split into 14 slices and 5 (maybe) circles. On the second outmost circle, every 2 slices there will be a pillar (each corresponding to one of the 7 factions). When a squad of reaches a pillar, units of that faction in the squad will receive a specific bonus (depending on the faction). The squads will be deployed on the field in the preferred method of the 2 players and the game may now begin. Players take turns to move squads across the field. When 2 opposing squads are adjacent to each other, the battle scene is activated. But more on that later on.

Unfortunately, Colosseum is on indefinite hiatus.
